Marvin Johnson is Founder and Executive Director of the Center for ADR in Greenbelt, MD, the first Dispute Resolution center at a historically black university. His twenty-five plus years of Dispute Resolution experience include working for the Department of Labor, the Federal Labor Relations Authority, the FMCS, the National Treasury Employees Union, the NFL Players’ Association, the National Academy of Conciliators, and as Professor of Labor Relations, Law and Dispute Resolution at Bowie State University. Marvin provides Dispute Resolution services and diversity workshops nationally, has arbitrated and mediated thousands of cases in a wide range of fields and has trained over ten thousand people in all forms of Dispute Resolution. He serves on numerous Dispute Resolution panels, including FMCS, JAMS, and the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution. Two Presidents (Clinton and Obama) and a Secretary of State (Rice) appointed him to the Federal Service Impasses Panel and the Foreign Service Grievance Board. Among his numerous organizational memberships, Marvin is President-Elect of the International Academy of Mediators and a member of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators. He has a JD from Catholic University, a BS in Business Administration from Kent State, and an MS in Industrial Relations from the University of Wisconsin.
