The Board of Directors of The Mediation Society is pleased to invite you to the Society’s Third Annual Dinner and Installation of Officers to be held on January 30, 2002, at 6:00 pm at The City Club, located at 155 Sansome Street, San Francisco.
Jerry Spolter will be presented with an award for Outstanding Achievment in the Field of Mediation.
Jay Folberg, Professor of Law and former Dean of the University of San Francisco School of Law, will be speaking on “Shared Stories, Experience and Aspirations”. As a mediator and arbitrator for over 25 years, he has mediated over 200 cases, including disputes between major non-profits, healthcare organizations, and educational institutions. He has also provided mediation training to thousands of lawyers and business executives.
Jay has served as Chair of the California Judicial Council Task Force on ADR and was recently appointed by Chief Justice Ron George as Chair of a Blue Ribbon Panel on Ethics in Arbitration. Jay has written extensively on ADR, including the book Mediation: A Comprehensive Guide to Resolving Conflicts Without Litigation and “Alternative Dispute Resolution: An Empirical Analysis,†which appeared at 46 Stanford Law Review (1994).
